Why people quit calorie counting

It isn’t a lack of willpower. Weighing food, searching databases and doing maths at every meal is exhausting, so it rarely lasts. Laddaty takes away the work, not the food.

  • Weighing and typing every ingredient

One photo logs the whole plate: calories, protein, carbs and fat.

  • A generic 2,000-calorie target

A daily target calculated from your age, height, weight, activity and goal.

  • Eating the same bland “diet food”

Weekly meal plans with food you actually love, sized to your macros.

  • Wondering if your workout “counts”

Log a run or a lift and the calories you burned are added back to your day.

Count calories from a photo

Snap a homemade tagine, a restaurant burger or a bowl of ramen. Laddaty’s AI recognises the food, estimates the portion and logs calories, protein, carbs and fat in seconds. Not quite right? Tell it what changed, in your own words.

Fix results in plain words

Type “No tahini, and only half the quinoa” and the numbers update:

520→403 kcal

Five ways to log a meal

  • Scan MealPoint your camera at the plate. Done.
  • BarcodeScan any packaged food.
  • GalleryLog a photo you took earlier.
  • Describe“Two eggs and toast with butter.”
  • ManualEnter the exact numbers yourself.

Meal plans built for your macros

Tell Laddaty your goal, diet and allergies. It plans complete meals for the week (a main, a salad, a drink and a dessert) from its recipe library, so eating well is already decided before you’re hungry.

  • Sized to your macros

Adam’s Tuesday: shrimp with tabbouleh at lunch, seabream tagine for dinner, dessert included. 2,786 kcal for his 2,744 kcal target.

  • Swap in one tap

Don’t fancy it? Swap any meal and the day’s totals update instantly.

  • Groceries, sorted

Turn the week into one shopping list, so nothing goes to waste.

Cook with what you have

No shopping trip needed. Snap your fridge to see what you can make right now, and swap any ingredient you’re missing or can’t eat. Less waste, fewer takeaways, same goals.

Scan your fridge

Point your camera at the fridge, pantry or counter. Laddaty picks out your ingredients and finds recipes that use them.

Swap what’s missing

Out of eggs, or can’t eat them? Tap Substitute. Laddaty suggests swaps that do the same job in the recipe, flags your allergens and rewrites the steps.

IEEE Ingredient swaps and meal planning backed by published IEEE research. How it helps you

Built on research published by IEEE

Most food apps are built on guesswork. Laddaty’s smartest features began as peer-reviewed research, published by IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization. You don’t need to read it. You’ll just notice that things work.

Swaps that keep the recipe working

Laddaty vs a regular calorie counter

Same lunch, two apps. Most calorie counters give you a database and wish you luck. Laddaty does the counting, then plans what’s next and helps you cook it.

A regular calorie counter

  1. Search “grilled chicken breast”
  2. Pick the closest of dozens of entries
  3. Weigh the chicken, then the quinoa
  4. Type in tomatoes, cucumber, onion… one by one
  5. Guess the tahini and the olive oil
  6. Do it all again at dinner

Minutes. Every meal.

  • Weekly meal plans for your macros

  • Swap any ingredient

Questions about Laddaty

Something we didn’t cover? Write to us. A real person reads every message.

What is Laddaty?

Laddaty is an AI calorie tracker, meal planner and cooking assistant for iOS and Android. Snap a photo of any meal to log calories and macros, get a weekly meal plan built around your goal, diet and allergies, swap ingredients you don't have, and cook step by step, hands-free.

Is Laddaty free?

Laddaty is free to download on iOS and Android and includes free credits for meal scans, plans and swaps. Laddaty+ unlocks unlimited meal scans, meal plans, smart swaps, recipe imports and AI cooking help.

How accurate is counting calories from a photo?

Laddaty's AI estimates calories, protein, carbs and fat from a photo in seconds. Like any estimate, food labels included, it isn't perfect, so you can tap Fix Results and describe what changed (for example “half portion” or “no dressing”) to refine it. You can also log a meal by describing it or by entering it manually.

Can Laddaty help me lose weight or build muscle?

Laddaty calculates a daily calorie and macro target from your age, height, weight, activity level and goal (lose, maintain or gain), then builds meal plans to match and tracks your progress. It is a wellness tool, not a medical programme: if you have a medical condition, talk to a doctor or dietitian first.

How does Laddaty calculate my daily calorie target?

Laddaty asks for your age, sex, height, weight, activity level and goal, then calculates a personal daily calorie target and a protein, carbs and fat split, the way dietitians do. Change your weight or goal any time and your targets update.

Does Laddaty count the calories I burn working out?

Yes. Log a run or a lifting session, describe any workout in your own words, or enter the calories yourself. What you burn is subtracted from what you've eaten, so your calories left for the day go up.

Does tracking calories really work?

It works when you keep doing it. Research consistently links tracking what you eat with losing weight, and logging often matters more than logging for long. That's why Laddaty makes logging a meal take seconds: snap it, describe it, or scan a barcode.

Is Laddaty backed by research?

Yes. Laddaty's ingredient substitution, meal planning and recipe import from cooking videos are built on research published by IEEE.

Can I cook with what's already in my fridge?

Yes. Snap your fridge, pantry or counter and Laddaty picks out the ingredients it sees, then suggests recipes that use them. You can also add ingredients by hand, and swap any ingredient you're missing or allergic to.

Does Laddaty work with my cuisine?

Yes. Laddaty recognises dishes from around the world and plans meals across Moroccan, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, French, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and American cuisines, from harira and tagine to ramen, tacos and ratatouille.

Can it handle my diet and allergies?

Yes. Tell Laddaty your diet and allergies during setup and it avoids unsafe recipes, flags allergens in ingredients and suggests allergy-safe substitutions.

Can I import recipes from TikTok, Instagram or YouTube?

Yes. Paste a link and Laddaty extracts the ingredients, steps and timings from the video, then saves a clean, cookable recipe to your folders.

Does Laddaty work with Thermomix®?

Yes. Thermomix® mode converts recipes into Thermomix steps with the right time, temperature and speed, and guides you through them hands-free.

Which languages does Laddaty support?

Laddaty is available in English and French.

Where does the name Laddaty come from?

The name Laddaty comes from the Arabic لذّتي (laddati), meaning “my delight”, which is why our motto is “Delight in every bite”.

What happens to my data?

Your data is used to personalise your plan and run the app, and we don't sell your personal data. You can request a copy or deletion of your data at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
